Our family-run guesthouse is located high above Manebach in the middle of the nature of the Thuringian Forest near the university town of Ilmenau.

The guesthouse “Am Waldesrand” used to be a popular holiday park for employees of the former East German Reichsbahn. It was built specifically for them in 1964. The employees and their families spent their holidays here for years and many Manebach residents learned to swim in the (former) swimming pool.

After the fall of the wall between East and West Germany, the holiday park was unfortunately forgotten.

We are proud that we – as a family – were able to resume operations at the park in 2014.

With us you will find an oasis of peace and untouchedness, a Valhalla for lovers of country life. Directly from our guesthouse you have, among other things, the opportunity to go for walks (ask about our hiking routes), go mountain biking and, in winter, cross-country skiing.

Hiking shoes are always appropriate to enjoy a special piece of nature. There are also many options for anyone with a cultural interest. Visits to the cities of Erfurt and Weimar are certainly worthwhile.
